Brightwater Marketing Specialist Christy grew up in Baton Rouge, La., with a love for horses, the outdoors and fine art. She's worked as a graphic designer for marketing companies and print shops, and has taught art, graphic design and photography to all ages, from kindergarteners to adults.
Christy credits MeatEater Podcaster Steven Rinella as someone who's had the most influence on her cooking style. She appreciates how he approaches hunting, fishing and wild game cooking techniques through the lens of a conservationist and historian, and has learned a lot about cooking fish and wild game. Her favorite recipe thus far is truite au bleu.
Christy joined NWACC's Marketing Department in 2018 and then transitioned to her marketing role at Brightwater in 2020. She enjoys photographing students in the classroom and showcasing their work on Brightwater's social media. She considers it a privilege to work with the Brightwater team to provide high-quality education to its students.
"I am fortunate to have the opportunity to use my creativity for an organization that has made such an impact on the community. Brightwater helps support the local food and hospitality industry by training culinary professionals for the region's workforce, and I love Brightwater's emphasis on local food and sustainable practices," says Christy.
In her free time, Christy likes to draw, paint, garden, fish, horseback ride, and take care
of her animals.
