Marlin Spradling

Facility Maintenance Technician

Brightwater Facility Maintenance Technician Marlin Spradling is originally from Fayetteville, Ark., and credits Peter Reinhart, the author of Brother Juniper's Bread Book, and his freeform and homey approach to breads for his own love for baking bread. Marlin's appreciation for good food has also been influenced by Justin Wilson, a southern American chef and humorist known for his Cajun-inspired cuisine.

For over two decades, Marlin has worked in the maintenance and electrical fields, as well as in the production of furniture, cabinetry and wooden toys. He first joined Brightwater as a student and then as an employee in 2018. With his knowledge of culinary equipment as a previous student, along with his experience in maintenance, being a technician for Brightwater has been a perfect fit.

When sharing what he enjoys most about working for Brightwater, Marlin says, "The people! It's better than family."

"I think Brightwater has provided a venue where students, chefs and the public can come together to share the enthusiasm for good food," he added.

In his free time, Marlin enjoys baking, cooking, gardening, woodworking, metalworking, chicken wrangling and fishing.
